Tree removal & stump grinding in Dublin, Ohio
Preservation zones, Muirfield ravines and lots of mature canopy.
Dublin spans parts of Franklin, Delaware and Union counties, and its tree situation varies a lot by neighborhood. Older areas near Historic Dublin and along the Scioto have big, mature trees. Muirfield Village and other 1970s–90s subdivisions have wooded lots, ravines and platted preservation zones. Newer developments to the west and north have younger trees, many planted as street trees by developers.
The rules, in short
- Private residential trees outside protected zones: generally no permit needed to remove your own tree.
- Trees 6 inches or more in diameter in platted no-build, no-disturb or tree preservation zones: you need a tree removal permit from the city first. Dead, dying, diseased, infested or hazardous trees qualify for removal, and replacement may be required or just encouraged depending on the circumstances.
- Street trees in the right-of-way are maintained by the city. Contact Dublin instead of removing or pruning them yourself.

Common jobs in Dublin yards
- Dead ash along rear lot lines and ravines, left over from emerald ash borer, which was documented in Dublin in 2009.
- Storm-split Bradford pears and silver maples.
- Overgrown evergreens screening patios and fences.
- Stumps from earlier removals, which often need an OHIO811 locate before grinding.
HOA considerations
Many Dublin HOAs, including Muirfield, have their own landscape rules on top of city code. Some require approval before removing trees, or require a replacement. Check with your association before you schedule work.
Access tips
Many Dublin backyards are fenced, with gates around 4 feet wide. Measure yours. If the gate is narrower than about 36 inches, mention it so the contractor brings compact equipment, or plans to remove a fence panel.
